Childish Behaviour”: Opposition Leader Slams President in Sri Lanka
The Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa, expressing astonishment at President Ranil Wickramesinghe’s approach in Parliament, accused him of likening the legislative body to the UNP working Committee. Sajith Condemned what he perceives as Ranil’s utilisation of the Phottuwa cronies and political slaves to manipulate discussions and misinterpret opposing viewpoints.
Highlighting the discord, Sajith explicitly criticised President Wickramesinghe for the head of state within the parliamentary precincts. Opposition Leader Sajith laminated the apparent regression of parliamentary decorum, stating that the governing party seemed to favour ‘Medamulana’ culture over upholding Westminster principles.Amidst these concern, Sajith passionately called for immediate elections,underlining the imperative for transparency and public endorsement. He urged President Wickramesinghe to allow the electorate to determine whether the SJB should govern or remain in opposition.
