Catholic Bishops awaken govt. to disaster facing many Lankans for survival
The Catholic Bishop’s Conference (CBCSL) in Sri Lanka on 29th August appealed to the government to grant relief to the poor. CBCSL in a statement signed by its President Rt. Rev. REPRESSION of DISSENT in SRI LANKA
On 26 July , students activists from Inter University Student’s Federation (IUSF) gathered at Colombo and launched a protest. They were seeking the immediate release of two students activists who have been in remand custody for over 200 days, namely, the Chairman of Student Union of the University of Kelaniya Kelum Mudaannyake, and Student Activist Dilshan Harshana.

Nathasha Edirisooriya, a Sri Lankan stand-up comedienne, was arrested at Katunayake International Airport on 28 May 2023 , on accusations that she “defamed Buddhism” through her performance in a comedy programme “Modibhimanaya”(Fool’s Pride) in April.
