What is the purpose of forming TGTE?
After silencing the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) by the Sri Lankan Government with the help of 20 countries in May 2009 at Mullivaaikkaal, there is no political space inside the island due to Article 6th amendment of the Sri Lankan constitution to articulate the political aspirations of the Tamil people.
As a historical obligation, Tamil Diaspora realised to create a political space outside the island of Sri Lanka.
TGTE is leading a campaign to realise the political aspirations of Tamils through peaceful, democratic, and diplomatic means, and its Constitution mandates that it should realise its political objectives only through peaceful means.
TGTE seeks that the international community holds the perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and Genocide against the Tamil people to account.
TGTE calls for a referendum to decide the political future of Tamils.
