Sri Lanka celebrates its independence from British rule, the Tamil Mark “black day” across Tamil Eelam.as it marks the beginning of state led violence and oppression of the Tamil community.
“Tamil genocide” refers to the systematic killings, human rights abuses, and widespread violence faced by the Tamil ethnic group in Sri Lanka, particularly during the Sri Lankan Civil War (1983-2009).
The protesters waved Tamil Eelam flags and held placards calling for the right to self-determination and justice and accountability for the Tamil genocide.
