Commemoration of the 16th anniversary of Mullivaikkal in London
In commemoration of the 16th anniversary of Mullivaikkal, a remembrance event was organized 18/05/2025 in London by the Tamil Coordination Committee and the Tamil Youth Organization. Thousands of Tamil expatriates gathered at the British Parliament Square. The protest for justice, which began with vigils, was conducted as a march to the Foreign Office and the Prime Minister’s residence.
During the event, the British national flag was raised by Domibilla Rajanayagam, while the Tamil Eelam national flag was raised by Yadhavi Thayalapavan.
Maneka Suresh lit the memorial flame. Following this, Yathushan Jayakumar adorned the memorial with a floral garland. A floral tribute and a lighting of lamps were also conducted at the memorial.
The event included poems, speeches, and sharing of memories of Mullivaikkal. After the song “Believe that Tamil Eelam will be born tomorrow,” which served as a symbol of hope, both the Tamil Eelam national flag and the British national flag were raised.
The event concluded with the resolution, “We will travel until Eelam is attained.” Finally, Mullivaikkal porridge was served to the attendees.
